What sheep sell for in Colorado

Hair sheep sell well to buyers who don't want shearing costs; wool breeds bring more where there's a fleece market. Bred ewes carry a premium over open ewes through winter.

Prices on BarnBridge are set by the owners themselves, not by a dealer markup, so use the board below as your local price check before you offer.

Before you buy: three things to check

Check feet and ask about foot rot history — it follows a flock for years.
Ask about OPP testing and worm resistance, especially in hot, wet regions.
Look at the ewes' udders and teeth; a mouth tells you more about real age than a stated age does.

How buying on BarnBridge works

1. Browse free. No account is needed to look at any listing, photo or price.
2. Message the owner. Sign in once and talk directly to the person who raised or ran it — no broker in the middle.
3. Go see it, then settle up. BarnBridge takes 0% commission on livestock and never handles animal payments; you agree terms with the seller and haul it home.

Every listing is posted by the owner and sold as-is. Read the marketplace terms and our livestock transaction notice before you buy.

Sheep questions buyers ask

Are hair sheep or wool sheep better for a small farm?

Hair sheep skip shearing and handle heat and parasites well, which suits most small farms. Wool breeds make sense if you have a fleece outlet or a cooler climate.

How many sheep can I run per acre?

It depends entirely on rainfall and forage. Ask your county extension office for a local stocking rate rather than trusting a national average.
